Many parents are already beginning to think about what the hot toys for Christmas will be this year. It is the season when stress rises and parents all across the world panic since they do not know what to buy for their children. Many children often change their minds two or three times before the night that Santa arrives. More than one parent will probably make one last dash back to the toy store. Hopefully, the right toy will still be on store shelves.
The situation only worsens when many of the most popular toys sell out way before Christmas. In fact, many parents begin purchasing the most popular forecasted toys in the summer months of July and August. These parents, however, are taking a risk because these toys may not actually be the toy that their children add to their Christmas wish list. However, never fear, if you’re left scrambling as the holiday approaches, you can always find the item you are looking for on eBay, but be warned that the going rate on eBay can be double or even triple the original cost of the item.
So what is the prediction for this year’s most popular toys for children? Christmas 2011 looks like another good year for Zhu Zhu Pets. The product line now includes babies and puppies. I have a strong feeling that children can relate to dogs more than they can relate to hamsters to this new expanded lineup may prove to be very popular.
The pre-school crowd, will probably get a kick out of the new Singamajig duets. Here you get a big Singamajig that holds a baby in its arms and they both sing. Too cute! If a parent is in search of a fun and educational toy, try Playskool toys, especially their line of Sesame Street toys. Sesame Street is a timeless classic that all children enjoy. Every child has at least one favorite character from this show.
Last year, Fisher Price’s Dance Star Mickey was a best seller. If your children went crazy for this toy, they will love the new edition called Rock Star Mickey. If your kids aren’t big fans of Mickey Mouse, be sure to check out an new offering by Hasbro called Let’s Rock Elmo. It has just been introduced, but many speculate that it will climb to one of the most wanted toys of Christmas 2011.
Children often imitate their parents. Parents nowadays are users of high tech gear such as smart phones, e-readers and tablet computers. Toymakers have realized this and have developed similar gadgets for kids. This year’s VTech Innopad will be just as popular with both kids and parents as the VTech VReader and the VTech Mobigo was. It is definitely one of the cool toys for kids.
The lineup of hot Christmas toys for girls looks great. For young girls who love Disney Princess, the Ultimate Dream Castle may be the perfect gift. Girls over the age of six, might enjoy the Lalaloopsy dolls, which are very cute and popular. Barbie fans may want Sweet Talking Ken. Recent polls suggest that this toy will find its way to the top of many girls’ wish lists. Do you have older girls who are crazy about Justin Bieber? Bieber has launched mini toy versions of himself that sing built-in songs. They are already a best seller.
So now let’s focus on the boys. This year there are a lot of popular toys for boys. Last year, Nerf topped the list with its gun. Now the latest from Nerf is the Dart Tag Swampfire. Nerf is a great way to experience fun without causing damage inside or out. Like Nerf, Lego toys are always best sellers, especially the line of Star Wars blocks. Further, if your boy likes chess, Solitaire Chess from Think Fun would be an ideal stocking stuffer.
The holiday season is a great time for families to spend more time together. There is no better way to have fun with loved ones of all ages than to play board games. Many old favorites like Uno and Monopoly have adapted different versions in the past and revamped the old style that they once had. They are always a blast. The Glee board game, however has not fared very well and has received some bad reviews, so it may be wise to stay away from buying it. Not even Glee fans were impressed by the game.
Finally, a nice way for children to count down the days to Christmas is by using an Advent calendar. The Lego Advent Calendar would be perfect for your little one. It features 24 Lego pieces that your kids will love. In fact, they are already in pretty high demand.

I am using Calibre to reformat e-pub books to Mobi Pocket so I can read them on my Kindle.
Hmm, never heard about Calibre. Thanks for the tip!
Very good selections, I am a lego fan and play with them more than my son
I’m a big lego fan as well. Since my son is younger, he can’t build many complex creations, but I “help” him!
I think the Zhu Zhu hamsters will continue to prove popular. The neat thing about the hamsters is that they are a relatively realistic substitute for a real hamster. Babies and dogs will not be. The toy hamsters are entertaining to watch as they zip around the cages avoiding each other and make cute sounds. As one Amazon reviewer wrote, “Whomever came up with the ZHU ZHU Pet idea was a genius. A pet that needs no food, water, and produces no waste!!!” On the other hand, kids who really like them may at some point start begging for a real pet. Eek!
Many thanks on the heads up on Solitaire Chess from ThinkFun. This was the first time I heard of it. My older son is in the Chess Club at school and my younger son wants to follow in his footsteps but is having trouble remember how all the different pieces move. This game appears to be a fantastic way for new players to master the pieces while also sharpening the skills of existing chess players. I think it would be a very good travel game as well. In general ThinkFun games are great for puzzle addicts.
Kid Zhu Zhu pets are always popular with the kids and this year will be no exception
I agree. They’ve been around for quite a while and still remain a popular toy.
Legos are always a good gift idea. There are some really great new toys out as well
